Conjunto Jardin are from Los Angeles. They specialize in son jarocho, the traditional music of Veracruz, Mexico that has African (#7) as well as Indigenous and Spanish influence. The songs on this CD are a mix of purely traditional (#1, #6, #7, #8, #9, #10) while the rest creatively
combine South American instruments with a reference to Cuban poet, Nicolas Guillen (#2), #5 with a segue into son montuno, and #3 that combines the traditional “El Ahualulco”with a Colombian vallenato rhythm. The women are the leaders in this group, a contemporary innovation
for son jarocho. Another long-awaited production from Conjunto Jardin with contributions from many guest artists and other songwriter contributors!
