Album Notes

Connie and the Choirboys
This band is about having fun by writing music that has a unique feel of Blues mixed with old school R&B/Soul music... We hope you enjoy our new CD with 12 songs including eight originals that will get you on the dance floor and keep you there... as the saying goes, it's highway music... put it in and motor...

Connie (Lead Vocal)
Born in Oklahoma moved to KC in 1987, been singing in church literally since she could walk, has been on stage with many national gospel artists.. Blues vocal influences include... Etta James,Luther Allison, Aretha Franklin and Koko Taylor. Connie has the unique ability to get "low down and dirty" like Luther Allison or nice sweet on an Etta James ballad...

Steve (Guitar)
Born in Oklahoma moved to KC in 1987, started playing guitar @ age 11, was the lead guitar in first band @ 13, started playing in clubs @ 15... I played in many top bands through out the late 60's and 70's...early influences.. Carlos Santana, Jimmy Page, then on to R&B soul bands... I started playing blues about 15 years ago... main influences... BB & Albert King, Albert Collins & Robin Ford... been playing guitar for 42 years (self taught).

Doc Hoc (keys)
Doc has played professionally for 37 years, including 2 years touring across the USA and Canada with one of the premier regional soul bands of the late sixties-early seventies, "the Sensational Showmen." Doc also played as a "one man band" for 12 years before he moved to the Kansas City area in 1987, and has been in numerous bands including: "Breez", "the Lonnie Ray
Allstars", "Horizontal Mambo", "the Gotto Blues Band", "the Automatics", "Eugene Smiley Blues Band", "Marva Whitney", "Millage Gilbert", and his own group, "Doc Hoc and Blues Deluxe". Also a hairstylist for 25 years, Doc is known to many as "the Musician Beautician". Influences.. Mike Finnigan, Al Kooper, Billy Preston, and Steve Winwood

Gary (Bass)
Born in Chicago, raised in Kansas City, this guitarist-turned-bassist has been in the music biz' for 30 years. Often called the "jack-of-all-musical-trades," he's played live and in most of the KC recording studios, works as a DJ, and has his own sound & lighting production company called KCPOWERHOUSE. Having a variety of musical genres in his life, Gary is lovin' his new case of the blues with Connie & the Choirboys.

Greg (Drums)
Greg is a Seattle native who played on pots and pans and other kids drums in the neighborhood until the age of ten, when he started lessons and received his own drums. Playing for dances and some clubbing by the age of 14 got him hooked on music as a new form of _expression. He has an extensive musical background that spans four decades of drumming in everything from gospel and jazz, from funk to country, and rhythm and blues. Whether playing live on a national tour, or in the studio at Tempo records, or in a local venues, Greg says he strives to support and complement the other musicians in the band by laying down a good musical groove behind them. Musical influences include Jazz Greats Roy Hannes, Art Blakey, Art Taylor, Elvin Jones. Contemparys influences include Harvey Mason, Steve Gadd, J.R. Robinson, David Garibaldi, Tommy Igoe, Dave Weckl, Giinger Baker, Matt Abts, Bob Mater, Tim, Austin, and all the great drummers in KC that I have had the privilege to hear and learn from who
are laying down the grooves.
