Album Notes

Every song on this CD is special to me in some way. They are so diverse and each one was chosen in a way that makes them touch my heart every time I sing them. They truly make me feel “Close to Home”. What a blessing that is!

For example, a while back I was trying to make one of the most difficult decisions of my life - whether or not to retire from federal service after more than three decades - and pursue my music ministry full time. I just wasn't confident enough to "cut the cord" so to speak.... Then one day I heard the song, "Jump Out of the Boat". It talks about not caring about anything except getting closer to the Lord. I realized that was what I had to do - "Jump out of the Boat". I could keep on working for the feds in a very rewarding and secure position, but that would never get me closer to the Lord. I had to just leave it all and trust in the Lord to move this ministry in the direction He wants it to go. So that's what I've done.

Our family has experienced a couple of losses in the last few years - beloved family members who are now in Heaven waiting for us. The song, "Now That You Know", has been such a comfort to all of us in the grieving process. It was a blessing for me to be able to include it.

And looking back on the day I was saved, I realize the Lord knew all along when I would be ready for salvation. He set the scene so that I would be in the right place at the right time. It took a life threatening condition, multiple surgeries and nearly 6 months of recuperation. But the Lord saved my soul on the day I was at my very lowest - and He has brought me higher than I ever imagined possible. That's why I included the song, "I Surrender All". It's one of my two favorite invitation hymns - and they're both on this CD.

My fervent prayer is that the music on this CD touches the listener, brings them into the presence of the Lord, and provides them with the inspiration or comfort needed in their life.
