Blues Connotation was the fiery young contemporary jazz sextet led by composer/pianist Ez Weiss. It features Peter Evans (trumpet), Ian Cronin-Young (alto saxophone), Kelly Roberge (tenor saxophone), Zack Hickman (bass), and Jason Brown (drums).
The group began as a project at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio where they studied hard for a year with drummer Billy Hart.
The band featured original compositions and intense playing.

Not the Future of Jazz, this IS JAZZ
author: C. Evan Williams
This is a cd anyone should have in their collection. No, matter if you are a jazz lover or a newbie to this amazing form of music. All of the tracks on this cd our engaging and compelling compositions. I have trouble talking about specific tracks on this album as each track takes you to the next in a journey of pumping rhythm, beautiful melodies, and amazing musicianship. I suppose the most honest and helpful thing I can say about this album is it fits easily among my Coltrane, Davis, and Mingus CD's. I would encourage anyone to get this album, as it will give you hours of pleasure.
