James Conway is an Irish-American musician based in Chicago. He has played traditional Irish music all his life, first starting on flutes and whistles and then taking the tunes over to diatonic and chromatic harmonica. To the traditional music of Ireland, Conway applies his techniques of bending, trilling, and chording that he learned in the west side blues joints from blues master harpists such as Junior Wells and Sugar Blue. In the jigs, hornpipes, and reels that he so masterfully plays, one can hear the sounds of Old Ireland, and at times hear the growl of the Mississippi Delta.

In my Top 10

This is a cd I play over and over and over again. It is brilliance. The selection of tunes is very balanced between fast and technical to slow and thoughtful. The slowed down version of Castle Kelly is pure magic. I could go on an on, but simply put, this is a top 10 release for me. You should own this release. Thanks James. Keep them coming! www.irishmusicottawa.ca

I became a fan of James after watching his videos on YouTube and I immediately purchased this CD. His harmonica playing throughout this album is just brilliant, and so is the instrumentation! James is a master of harmonica and Irish music, and I would recommend this CD to anyone who loves listening to Irish music.
Thanks James!

I have to agree with Richard on this recording. I have heard his name for several years in Harmonica circles (HARP-L.COM) and now understand why the words amazing always found its way in. This is a captivating album full of solid choices in song and playing. The harmonica playing flows like waterin and out of the otehr instruments....... now where my Guiness
