Album Notes

A versatile vocalist, Richard Thomas' career began in Philadelphia. He had the opportunity, at fourteen, to open for B.B. King. He continued to add to this list of music legends, while singing with local favorites the Royal Kings, by opening for acts such as, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, Little Anthony, AWB, and a host of other well known acts. Richard also performs with a wide variety of super talented local, as well as, international artists. Richard has three recordings to his credit. The Pleasure Of Your Company, Cookin' and Holiday Classics.

Richard enjoys swinging to the sounds of the 50's and 60's. His voice is especially suited to well-known classic standards. His style is compared to the likes of Nat King Cole, Lou Rawls, Frank Sinatra, and Johnny Hartman. In fact, you can hear a bit of each one when Richard sings.

Richard currently performs at Ziococconato in Larchmont, New York, the Doral Arrowood in Rye Brook, New York, the Silvermine Tavern in Norwalk, Connecticut, the Long Ridge Tavern and the Landmark Club in Stamford, Connecticut. Richard also performs at concerts and special corporate and private events.

Additionally, Richard has been lending his vocal talent to acting in commercials as well as doing corporate voice-overs. He has several clients such as Pitney Bowes, the Stamford Board of Education, Buckley and Wynne, First Federal Bank of Hartford, and the Connecticut Department of Tourism. He has trained with Voices International Inc. in New York City, and studied with a variety of well-known vocal instructors.

Excellent choice for the mature listener

Richard Cookie Thomas is one of the finest vocalists I have ever had the pleasure of working with. His debut CD, The Pleasure of Your Company is beautifully conceived, with a palate of geogeous standards that are familiar to those of all ages and backgrounds. Check out his rendition of 'That's All', and 'What a Wonderful World' - as well as every other track on the CD and Cookie will propel you into a world of romance and relaxation! Soon, Cookie will be known internationally as one of the great voices of jazz. He certainly is a talent that deserves wider recognition - and hopefully that day is forthcoming in the very near future. Don't lose this opportunity to order this incredible CD that will both begin and end your day with warmth and love in your heart

Warmly performed collection of first rate songs

Cookie Thomas lives up to his promise in this warmly performed collection of first-rate songs. The cover of the CD sets the mood...a cozy invitation to curl up by the fire and listen - preferably with the one you love! He sings these numbers with the kind of sincerity only made possible by one who fully appreciates their beauty, as his clear, relaxed voice embraces every song. Cookie's voice is well mated to the Lynne Arriale Trio, who create a sensitive instrumental response to complement the singer, especially on such tunes as "The Very Thought of You," "The Nearness of You," and "When I Fall In Love." And I love those moody changes on "The Look of Love." One of the things I like best about this recording is its unadulterated approach to these classic standards. They are all gems, and they are treated as such...sounds beautiful to me!

Like sharing and intimate moment with a friend

They say the eyes are the windows of the soul. I believe the sound of the voice is equally revealing. The sound of Richard "Cookie" Thomas' voice lets you know in an instant that he's a lovely, genuine, intelligent, and talented individual. Cookie has the most beautiful instrument I've heard in a very long time. People have compared him to Lou Rawls, Nat "King" Cole, and others; but, Cookie has his very own signature sound. I don't know how Cookie came up with the title "The Pleasure of Your Company" for his recording debut, but it's a perfect title. Listening to this wonderful CD is like sharing an intimate moment with a good friend. His singing is warm, rich, sophisticated and tasteful. His choice of material and musicians is superb. I highly recommend adding this CD, his Christmas release, and any of Cookie's future releases to your music collection. Thanks, Cookie, for many hours of enjoyable listening.
