"DON'T BE AFRAID-GET ON " is the first new music in three years from NEW YORK based soul band COOLY's HOT BOX. The 11 track CD features lead vocals on seven cuts from the highly acclaimed ANGELA JOHNSON and lead vocals on the remaining tracks from drummer and founder CHRISTIAN URICH. This project also showcases the ever expanding production and writing skills of Angela and Christian. "DON' T BE AFRAID-GET ON" is a versatile, melodic, infectious hybrid of r&b, neo-soul, funk, dance, soulful house and rhythmic
jazz, fused into a sound that is familiar, but yet unique.

This project can only enhance the band's rapidly growing reputation for being among the very finest exponents of funky, jazzy, danceable music anywhere in the world.
Since CHB released their first album, both CHRISTIAN URICH and ANGELA JOHNSON have been extremely busy with outside projects.

Christian, who is also the founder and lead singer of TORTURED SOUL, has been busy supporting the bands debut effort, entitled "INTRODUCING TORTURED SOUL." Christian has also completed successful collaborations with ROGER SANCHEZ, OSUNLADE and DJ SPINNA. Angela has completed two solo albums, her debut "THEY DON'T KNOW," and her
sophomore effort, "GOT TO LET IT GO." "GOT TO LET IT GO," released in June, via Columbia Japan, is scheduled for a March 2005 US release. Angela has most recently produced tracks on RAHSAAN PATTERSON, GORDON CHAMBERS and LAURNEA, for upcoming projects. Angela also penned the
song "All Day Long," for the recently released MAYSA LEAK CD.

SBC.GLOBAL .NET is using the COOLYS HOT BOX's track " LOSE YOUR FRIENDS" from their current CD " DON'T BE AFRAID- GET ON "as the centerpiece of their new commericial campaign complete with visual clips of the band.

The commerical will be intially be seen starting FEB 15 in the following cities :

CHICAGO , LA , CLEVELAND ,DETROIT , HOUSTON , DALLAS- FT WORTH, SAN FRANCISCO , ST. LOUIS

This would've been one of those records I would've played 30 years ago as a child, after getting permission to listen to the stereo from my mom(God rest her soul). It's nice to hear an album(or should I say CD)that I can listen to without skipping to the next track! I'm truly grateful to see soul return full circle(I was beginning to worry for a minute). Now we need the return of soul radio to work alongside Soultracks.com(we have Tom Joyner for only a few hours a day, my people). My gratitude goes out to Cooly's Hot Box & everyone who's bringing back the "soul". Keep on pushin'& flowin', baby!

a note to all you radio people the first track don't be afraid is a straight up smash ,great track , vocals love the entire cd, maybe I is a touching ballad , great lyrics , my only complaint is that the last track lose your friends should have been second
