Album Notes

\"The Copa Canon\" is a collection of selected songs from 3 extraordinarily diverse Copa albums: \"Hotlights\", \"Discografiti\", and \"Magnus Copa\". All three albums are also available at CDBaby.

The extraordinarily eclectic sound of \"Magnus Copa\" is expressed by the soaring guitars and strings in \"Come Alive\", by the revelatory evangelical sex music \"Flesh and Bone\", and the nuevo-Zeppelinesque blues/techno adventure of \"If You Open That Door\". The album resists the convenience of musical categorization, diverse from song to song as a result of various recording methods, and varied multiple mixing engineers and consoles. Perhaps its only coalescence comes by the use of consistent lyrical wit, and the use of irony contrasted by occasional adventures into sincerity. It is a project that is well suited by the title \"Magnus Copa\". It is ambitious, diverse, experimental, and interesting throughout.

Discografiti is the eclectic club de diablo side of Copa. Tight beats and bass, with occasionally visceral grooves, set the stage for a kaleidescope of funky space guitars coupled with a confident, intimate, half-spoken vocal delivery. It weaves wit and sincerity into a rock and roll garnished with ambient sounds and dance beats--a fair solute to Bowie\'s \"Let\'s Dance\" but with more aggression and exploration. Discografiti is a faithful companion for any music listener who wants energetic, melodic, and ironic music.

\"Hotlights\" is the first of Copa\'s explorations into Gospel Cigar Rock. Recorded as an analogue college project from 2002-2004, the album spans the realms of rock-a-billy, space rock, groovy Police-ish post punk, and even Americana. It is both aggressive and vulnerable, spiritually sincere, and raw. Youthful and not contented to fit into a category, Copa makes a number of unexpected turns within each song. It is a rewarding listen for any lover of alternative rock and roll whose catalogue includes old Zeppelin, The Police, U2, or early David Bowie.
