Album Notes

Representing a new direction in chamber music, Minneapolis’ very own Copper Street Brass Quintet’s new full-length album, Evolution of the Brass Quintet, combines the excitement of rock, pop, and jazz music with the virtuosity of the brass quintet. The CSBQ is Allison Hall and Corbin Dillon on trumpet, Tim Bradley on horn and jazz piano, Alex Wolff on trombone, and Stefan Kac on tuba.

The album features totally unique transcriptions and compositions created by the quintet, for the quintet. Highlighted arrangements include Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believin”, “First Circle” by Pat Metheny, and other crowd favorites by Billy Joel, Ben Folds, and Counting Crows. The group’s resident composer and jazz tubist, Stefan Kac, has two compositions featured on the disc. Minneapolis drummer and percussionist Reid Kennedy joins the group on the album.
