Album Notes

Corey's professional career has spanned nearly two decades, starting as a paid cantor in the Catholic church, and leading to a career with the Grammy Award Winning Group Chanticleer from 1991-1997. While with Chanticleer, Corey toured the world and performed with such groups as the San Francisco Symphony, The New York Philharmonic and the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra. The American Record Guide has described Corey's voice as exquisite. The influences of Chanticleer are definitely apparent in this unique collection of original, meditative vocal music, which combines the haunting medieval sounds of Gregorian Chant with layers of beautiful cascading vocals ranging effortlessly from countertenor to bass.

"I loved this project. Especially the arrangements and new treatment of liturgical texts." Ken Love, Master Engineer, Master Mix, Nashville, TN

A friend said to me, "listen to this. Corey wrote it and sings all the parts." I expected something pleasant, but was not prepared to be moved to tears. The combination of deeply thoughtful lyrics and a beautiful voice in the track called "The Gift" were much more than I expected.

There is not a track on this CD that isn't masterfully beautiful. The acappella vocal music of Corey McKnight must be heard to be believed.

This CD really is a pleasure to listen to. Corey has a wonderful voice and the layering he does to accompany himself is enjoyable. I would easily rate this CD as one of the more accessible Gregorian chant/new age albums I have come across.
