Album Notes

Released in 2009, multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter Corinne Curcio’s third solo CD "From My Balcony" explores several musical genres including Acoustic Pop, Rock, Blues, Folk, Swing and even some Celtic and Middle Eastern influenced songs. Playing guitar, keyboard, bass, percussion and drum programming, her sultry and emotive vocals are the perfect instrument for expressing her words. The lyrics, as always, are well crafted and personal, yet universal as she explores the light and dark sides of life.

"...From My Balcony is poetically descriptive with rich imagery and strong themes. Corinne's music ably supports her well constructed lyric and the production is clean and crisp. Corinne Curcio is a singer/songwriter to be reckoned with." - Don Sechelski - MusesMuse CD Reviewer

"...Classic (and classy) 60s-inspired rock-influences abound throughout From My Balcony...13 songs offer a most pleasant listening experience. This is due mainly to Corinne's strong, confident guitar playing and her mature songwriting skills...
In today's too-much-information world of hyper-media-train-wreck entertainment, it's rare to find genuinely contemplative, quietly distanced reflections in song that stand on their own and draw the listener in out of the common din of life. From My Balcony accomplishes this and more. It's titlle rings true. In tracks such as "Man in the Moon", "From My Balcony" and "Lazy August Afternoon" - while listening one can really envision Corinne Curcio up there - at her apartment somewhere in Brooklyn - courting her muse -- her observations stretching out across her view of the human universe. - Robert Urban, URBAN PRODUCTIONS ,NYC

Praise for Corinne’s second solo CD “Now”
"... the star attraction of this rockin' album is Corinne Curcio's talent triumvirate of great songwriting, great guitar work and great singing. Each track hits the ground running - and Corinne wastes no time in ushering the listener thru her intricately composed, harmonically rich and adventurous art-pop creations..." - Robert Urban - URBAN PRODUCTIONS, NYC
“…each time it is played, the listener is guaranteed to hear beyond the pleasurable sounds and experiences the wealth of life, love and lessons that Corinne has chosen to share with her listeners…I’ve seen Corinne perform live, and she can more than hold her own armed with just her voice, guitar and lyrics. One can argue that any combination of these elements would produce a great CD, but I doubt that many musicians could coordinate all these elements as flawlessly as Corinne Curcio does on “Now”…” – Jed Ryan

REVIEWS

A faultless set of songs that grows with each listen

Corinne Curcio has released her third solo cd, From My Balcony, and a fine and varied release it is. This is a product of the home-grown music industry, the cd-baby business model. Artists creating music in their homes and distributing to friends and acquaintances. Truth be told, these songs could stand proudly on the cd shop racks. Production values may be lower without the professional studio machinery, but the songwriting is right up there. Opening with the bright My Melissa, the cd runs through a range of folk, rock and pop styles. This is the strength; it never dulls after repeated listens, while each song has something original, some melodic direction, instrumentation or catchy lyric that makes you want to listen again and again. Corinne's influences can be found in the Beatles homage "The Four Lads from the Liverpool" and the early REM styled "Do the Tragedy". "Poor Old Me" carries a lovely melody that could easily sit on an English folk-rock album, while "Bad Luck" struts with a riff that would get John Travolta dancing. The guitar is wonderfully played and masters many styles. The lyrics are strong and sketch beautifully drawn portraits of New York life, from 14th floor balcony observations to the lost joys of a old toy. There are songs of hardship and doubt, told with humour and defiance. The cd ends on a highlight; Man in the Moon draws it all to a close with a delicate guitar and a child's innocence. It's a beautiful finale to a faultless set of songs.
