Corkscrew are a lively, entertaining and versatile Barn Dance/Ceilidh band fronted by Roger Downton's high energy foot tapping fiddle. From pacey Old-Time redneck reels to bouncy Celtic jigs, this rollicking selection of English, Irish, Scottish and American Appalachian Mountain/Hillbilly tunes provides a feast of traditional reels, jigs, slip jigs, polkas, hornpipes and waltzes, 'plugged in' creatively to pulsate the senses.

Roger's rustic fiddle techniques provide exciting raw energy, and his flat picking guitar pieces offer delightfully airy contrasts, all played in a unique, natural, and cheeky style, whilst retaining the essence of real country music.

Sandy's keyboard and intuitive use of various percussion instruments, including bodhran, darabuka, shakey eggs, block and sticks ..... not to mention her Appalachian dancing feet!! ..... all add to the spicey mix of sensational sounds.

This harmonious couple capture their sparkle on a couple of vocal tracks together, as well as peppering some fiddle tunes with the occasional chorus, whilst Dick glues it all together with articulate, explorative bass lines.

Corkscrew's fun, soulful and dynamic arrangements contain vigour, passion and oodles of oomph, and will have you revitalised as you chill out on your own back porch.
