Cosmic Nomads is a 5 piece progressive rock band from Australia. Founded in 2003 by Hammond organist/singer Ray Vanderby who is the principle songwriter and has a musical career spanning over 40 years. He studied Bach, Grieg, Debussy, Mussorgsky, King Crimson, ELP, Yes, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Deep Purple, Mahavishnu Orchestra and became a qualified piano tuner and a sought after keyboards sideman, having toured and recorded with many of Australia's top artists such as Stevie Wright, Doug Parkinson, Marcia Hines, John English, Blackfeather, and Band Of Light. In 1991 he won the national WROC/BMG songwriting competition out of 2,500 entries. The first line up of Cosmic Nomads was Sydney based but after moving to Melbourne in 2005 Vanderby handpicked the new current line up:

"Vultress" the band's 2nd album released 2007, it represents the journey of a modern day ism. Vultress is a modern day ism and has no gender. The album's songs display the torment, triumph and understanding of such an ism.
We live in an age plagued with isms. ISM (inside me). Some of them are entities and are incurable.These isms are inside us and some of the more glaring isms can be troublesome and effect our karma. Only the most powerful of spiritual tools can arrest them: suicidism -terrorism - alcoholism - racism - and egoism are all powerful isms that are clearly out of control within some of us, like an incurable disease causing pain, suffering and death on our fellow human beings.
