I have always made music that simply felt right. Honest reflections of where I am at during various points in my life. This work is no exception. The main difference is, at this point, I feel that all of my powers are coming in to focus. I've been recognized as a formidable guitar player since my early teens, but singing, songwriting and production coming along a bit later and needing some time to catch up and mature. I think this the first work that I've done that fully reconciles all of those disciplines.
Big shout outs must also go to the musicians who generously contributed to this work. Jeremy Carlstedt is a fantastic drummer who comes from the Jazz world as a protege of the great Chico Hamilton, but is steeped in the Classic Rock traditions that resonate so deeply with me. The man on Hammond B-3 and bass pedals is Mr. Peter Levin (Blind Boys of Alabama) whose virtuosity, generosity and musicality is winning him fans world wide from both without and within the industry. It was at Peter's studio, Moon Palace Recording, that these songs were recorded and mixed by Kyle Paas, an extremely talented young engineer.
This music is making no concessions for an audience, so it demands to be appreciated on it's own terms. I hope it gives you as much listening pleasure at it gave me during it's process of becoming... Much love, Cos.
