A little funny + a little sad = a lot awesome. Where Tradition Meets Tomorrow is 5 new songs about losers, evil geniuses and giant squids. Sure, it's goofy geek rock and yes it's hilarious, but listen closely and it will break your heart. Coulton's is the voice of every spooky elementary school kid who could never quite keep his shirt tucked in or shoes tied; every lovelorn mad scientist (that's right, you know who you are); every one of us who has ever spent time alone during the dreaded "Couples Skate" at the roller rink.
"singer-songwriter stylings with all the versatility and winning wit of They Might be Giants"
"if Raffi liked to sing bad words every once in a while"
"like the Barenaked Ladies, but not soul-suckingly horrible in the least"
"Tom Lehrer with a guitar and a high fever"

The New Laboratory Standard

Listening to Skullcrusher Mountain is a great way to keep yourself from killing your girlfriend when she gets to be a REAL pain in the ass 'cause it'll put a smile on your face, an unforgettable melody in your head, and it'll remind you that you are actualy in love with each other. What an awesome concept, this particular song is. Can't get the tune outta my head and when my girl's around, I sometimes playfully chase her around the apt. with her screaming (playfully)for help! It's a lot of fun! Highly recommended and a real bargain for the price CDBaby is asking!

Jonathan Coulton is one of the smartest, most talented people on the planet. Seriously, freakishly talented. Almost scary - in a good way.

I got this CD for one song, but the whole thing is funny! I love all of it, and all my friends love hearing Skullcrusher Mountain. (Incidentally, I saw someone try to make a music video of that song to WoW, but it's just not as good as the song by itself.) Truly a masterpiece!
