Some fine country rock / alt country! Can say I'm found of all songs, but in all it is one of the better CD in this genre.

Never heard about these guys but the CDBaby Site made me curious and already by the first tones of Heather I was sold
Especially in the slower number with mandolins, fiddles and accordeons they prove to be first rate musicians. I am already looking forward to their next CD !

Country Doctors disc: the real deal! ... [it] will find a place on my shelf righ
author: The NOISE: Rock Around Boston
The Country Doctors debut disc is the real deal, falling somewhere on the spectrum between straight country and alt-country, with vocals reminiscent of '80s roots rockers Green On Red. Lyrically, they cover some of the typical country topics, like lost love and workin' for a livin'. But there are also songs about heroin addiction; loving a woman who hears voices and gets institutionalized (at Austen Riggs out in Stockbridge); as well as one about American Nazi Party founder George Lincoln Rockwell. They supplement their two guitars, bass, and drums lineup with some special guests, like country/ folk legend Jimmy Ryan on mandolin, and Joe Kessler on fiddle. When it's done right, country/ rock can have as much punch and grit as the best punk. The Country Doctors definitely deliver just that. More Venom Less Self Pity will find a place on my shelf right next to Robbie Fulks and Steve Earle. (Brian Mosher)
