Album Notes

The Couriers is a four-piece band from NYC that delivers a unique blend of modern indie rock hooks brimming with math-rock and post-punk sensibilities. At once driving and up-beat, rocking and dreamy, they share moments reminiscent of the British Invasion, as well as respect for the rugged street-smarts of Fugazi and Blonde Redhead.

The Couriers began playing together in early 2004, and feature Adam Keller on guitar and vocals, Brian Polon (guitar), Jed Livingston (bass), and Adam Levine on drums. The band plays about town regularly at venues including CBGB, Trash Bar, Rothko, and Crash Mansion, as well as at clubs in Boston and NJ.

'Stay These Couriers' is the band's debut album. Throughout the course of its nine tracks, the record journeys seamlessly between jingly nostalgia ('The Late Bird'), anxious hauntings ('Every Exit an Entrance'), and frenetic post-punk epics ('Day of Man'). It's an eclectic mix of songs, with ever-so-subtle nods to the influences that helped shape the band's sound - The Beatles, Sebadoh, Guided By Voices, and The Police, to name a few.

"Every Exit an Entrance" is featured in the new Ron Livingston / Chris Penn movie "Holly", which premiers in New York on November 9, 2007. "The Late Bird" was featured in the Nissan Sentra 2007 campaign.
