Somehow, somewhere, between Philadelphia and San Francisco on her first national tour, Courtney Fairchild managed find a few short days to stop at home base and whip up a killer set list, pull her best friend along to take Polaroids of the whole thing, and record 'Right Here' her third album and first live record.

'Right Here' is eleven never before recorded songs, two previously recorded songs, and a total of thirteen stellar never before released gems of solo vocal luminosity. As much killer concert performance as it is intimate "Hi, I'm Courtney singing in your living room," 'Right Here' is Courtney's latest bridge from behind the guitar into your heart and mind.

The first thing that comes across is the voice. The second thing is the virtuosic guitar playing. The third thing is the depth of the lyrics - the plaintive search for meaning and truth beyond the surface of things. The experiences and lyrics on 'Right Here' are trademark Courtney and you won't find anything as good or honest, anywhere else.

Which isn't to say that Courtney lacks for contradiction: in 'Asylum' (a rocking, rolling, ultimate lesbian anthem) she sings, "Well I'll give you the fact that we met too soon, and yes we're both a little crazy, but I'll give you everything I have if you just say you'll meet me, meet me where I am, meet me where I stand, out back of the asylum; but by 'Lament' things are slightly less optimistic, "This is my lament for everything I will never be to you and this is me sorry that I'm out here chasing your past and my own dreams..."

If you can only buy one CD this year, well, Courtney's got three - Right Here, Long Way, and Simple and Distorted - so you do the math. Maybe it's time to cutback on the Starbucks Frappuccinos or maybe you don't really need to make your car payment this month. However you manage it, Courtney Fairchild and her music are worth the sacrifice. It's an hour of really good therapy in a really pretty little box.
