After growing up in a small town in the heart of America's west, Evan Cowden attended the prestigious Berklee College of Music on a Professional Vocal Scholarship. There he studied along side artists such as Paula Cole and Layla Hathaway.
After leaving Berklee in 1990, Evan began to search for a sound...a sound that would set him apart. He turned to the late night club scenes of Los Angeles and New York and this is where he found it... NU ELECTRO. Evan Cowden is poised to be a leader in the emergence of the nu electro sound popping up all over The United States and Europe.
Strongly influenced by the post-modern/new wave movements of the early 1980's, and inspired by vocalists such as Jimmy Somerville, Lisa Stansfield, Alison Moyet, and Andrew Bell; Evan Cowden has succeeded in drawing from the heavy synth-pop arrangements of Vince Clarke and The Pet Shop Boys, blending them with contemorary House and R&B flavor, to create a style all his own.
Unique and distinctive VOCAL electronica w/ a strong pop-crossover appeal.
In his long awaited self-titled new release, Evan Cowden continues to pay tribute to his musical roots. From Alison Moyet's "Ode to Boy"(as never sang before) to Bronski Beat's classic pop anthem "Smalltown Boy", Evan delivers a vocal dance record with punch! A must have for all true true fans of the dance floor!

Queer is Good
author: David May
Within the limits of the medium, this is a great little compilation of electronica. Easy to dance to, fun to listen to. Cowden's queering of *Ode to Boy* is a refreshing take on a song with an already queer subtext. Fun music to listen to on the iPod while on the Eliptical Trainer or StairMaster.

Refreshing and Innovative...Evan Cowden delivers...
author: D.R. Nix
How refreshing to hear an artist in electronica deliver a unique and thoughtful project... Intelligent dance music that not only keeps your body moving, but your mind and social concience active as well! The Bronski Beat cover is a testiment to the artists 80's influences and Evan's vocals on the track leave me wondering just where his range actually tops out... Looking forward to a sequel!
