If Hank Williams and Tom Petty met, got trashed and ended up jamming, it might have come out like this. This is California alt-Country at its best, with an emphasis on ALT.

Album Notes

"Cant resist a track called "Psychedelic Servive Station by The Cowlicks. They're obviously off their trolleys. Love em' for it! BBC Radio, Trailer Star Lounge

New release by the winners of the California Music Award for "Outstanding Country/Alt. Country Album of 2004"

April 2006: Hot off the presses, less than a week from the factory, California DJs are saying:

"I think this is the one that is going to push them into the bigtime. I hope so, they deserve it."
-Peggy O' of KFJC's "Out Behind The Barn"

"Psychedelic Service Station reminds me why I love these guys! Gram Parsons would be proud!"
-Wesley Robertson of KVMR's "Rockin' and Stompin"

More about the Cowlicks and Todd Novak's music:

"This Quintet delivers catchy, countrified gems dripping with slide and mandolin mastery."
-MilesofMusic.com

"This isn't just pure countrified roots music: The song writing is so good, and the playing so
intense, you think you are hearing a rocker who could be the next Tom Petty.. If Hank Williams
and Tom Petty met, got trashed, and ended up jammin', it might have come out like this."
-Brad Kava, San Jose Mercury News

"The Cowlicks take the bull by the horns to corral a spot on the alt. country music map"
-Rick DelVecchio, San Francisco Chronicle

"A sweet slice of Byrds-flavored pie; classic/cosmic California tunefulness."
-Eric Babcock, Catamount Records

Some of the best Moo-sic you'll ever hear!

Just when I thought that these guys had set the new standard for Alt Country with "Cowboys with Attitude", they pull it off AGAIN! But this time in an even grander scale, Psychedelic Service Station has to be some of the best moo-sic that I've ever heard. It's none of that cookie-cutter same old humdrum Nashville country crap that the labels pump out now-a-days. This album took some major thought (and obviously a lot of time). Once again gentlemen, I tip my ten gallon hat, and give this one a big 5 stars!

Psychedelic Service Station catches your attention as it bounces along its beautiful country tracks taking you to visit some quirky rockin guitar licks, backwards beatle-esque twists, and lyrics that require some frizzlin' time in your mind...all the while you're dancing to the tunes and feeling happy to have ears. Every song pumps up this CD's fun fuel and you've got to hear the 'licks grassy version of "hand in my pocket". This psychedelic service station provides full service. We recommend it for everyone!!!

Worth the Wait

CWA was such a good album that it would have been a challenge for any band to come up with a worthy follow up. The Cowlicks have not only met that challenge, they made it sound easy. PSS has a little more emphasis on the Americana side of their music, and overall the tempo is more upbeat than the last outing. This disc deserves major radio airplay, and if there's any justice left in the music industry this will be the disc that gets the Cowlicks the attention they deserve on a broad scale. Anyone considering buying this disc should, to quote Hunter S. Thompson, "buy the ticket, take the ride."
