notes
The Coyote Sisters are Leah Kunkel and Marty Gwinn Townsend.
Leah is probably best known for her background singing with such artists as Art Garfunkel, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, Dan Hill, and many others.
Her prior releases include two solo albums on Columbia Records, and the first Coyote Sisters album on Motown.
Marty, in addition to the first Coyote Sisters album, was 1/2 of Bishop & Gwinn, who released their album on Infinity Records; she has also written and performed film scores, and has appeared in theater productions, including "Keepin' Em Off The Streets" (Robert Altman).
Leah and Marty began collaborating in 1980 in Los Angeles where they met at a recording session.
The original Coyote Sisters band, which included Renee Armand(who does not appear on this release, but co-authored one of the songs on it)was formed the same year.

author: Malcolm McPheeA really fantastic album. Why don't they release the first Coyote Sisters album and the two Leah Kunkel albums on CD???? They are all excellent.
excllent harmonies!
author: Greg M.This CD is wonderful. I got it mainly because I was a big fan of Leah Kunkel's in the 1970s, but I'm very impressed that this record is so accessible. Much of it sounds like 70s pop rock, but there are so many different genres represented, it is difficult to categorize. Certainly the best thing is the harmonies (for which Ms. Kunkel is well-known). The title track and "Break Down in the Breakdown Lane" are worth the price of the CD alone. I recommend this recording to anyone who appreciates great harmonies.
It ROCKED!!!
author: WhartenbyEverything was great. I liked the confirmation I got when the CD shipped. I will order more CD's from this site in the future.
This should be in every music-lover's collection!
author: Kim LoftisI have eagerly anticipated purchasing this album for some time, and to say that I wasn't disappointed would be the understatement of the year! I've loved these women and their music for several years, and this is some of their finest work to date. Thoughtful, insightfull and at times, heartbreaking lyrics, meld with lush harmonies and stunning melodic lines to form an absolutely blissfull listening experience. For those of you who have heard any of Leah or Marty's previous work, what are you waiting for? Buy the album! For those of you who haven't had that pleasure, these ladies deliver these songs with passion and beauty. Each has her own distinct voice, and their voices blind together to form truly glorious sounds that will capture any open heart. The songs reflect a variety of styles from jazz, ("Blues For a Snowman", to ballads, (You Will Never Be Mine", "I'll Be There For You"), and even songs verging on a more clasical aproach, ("The Bath," "Women and Other Visions.") Fabulous job to all those involved in this project... to those reading this, trust me, this is simply clasic, and an album to be treasured for a lifetime. I need more stars!
This CD is calling to you...
author: Sandy DechertFelt that I knew these songs before I ever heard them.... Marty and Leah range effortlessly over folk, blues, rock. Exquisite harmonies, classy instrumentation, poetic and original lyrics. MORE, please !!!
Wow...
author: Stephen RoachThis is an amazing CD. Their voices go from gentle, tight harmonies to soaring vocals that twist in and out of each other. The music, much of which is written by the group, is a successful mix that ranges from rock to powerful ballads such as the showstopping You Will Never Be Mine. Women and Other Visions is a nice reminder that music can be felt as well as heard.
Eclectic, melodic, heartfelt
author: Deb RoseOne of those CDs that feels like an old favorite after the first listen. Some instrumentation sounds a bit canned, but I found the sincerity and range of emotions a bit addictive, and the voices haunting but easy to listen to. Leah Kunkel really captures the spirit of lost love and strong memories.
Beautiful voices, interesting lyrics, why doesn't stuff like this get airplay?
author: Julee MurphyBought this cd because I love Leah Kunkel's voice and it was a pleasure to hear her again. My favorite tunes were the ones she was lead on (no reflection on Marty's voice, just my own 20 year fan-ship for Ms. Kunkel. Anyway, If you're a fan of seamless harmonies, excellent production and musicianship and a message of, ultimately, love and hope, I'd certainly recommend.
completly fresh, insightful and refreshing
author: Teresa ContiTo the heart. No short cuts. Pulls no punches, and captures the spirit and freedom of LOVE! A GREAT JOB, ALL!
