Album Notes

Chris Price's debut album POST POP PARADE is, fundamentally, a collection of pop tracks. "pop" in this sense can be better described as "post-pop" or "anti-pop", paying homage not to today's generally vacuous notions of commercial radio pop, but more to the fun, catchy, primarily independent genres that spawned most of our favorite records from the 80's and 90's.

While the return of alternative pop ideals is some serious business, Chris Price approaches it the way it should be done -- POST POP PARADE is an upbeat, lighthearted joyride from beginning to end.

Over the course of 12 original tracks, POST POP PARADE combines synth-pop, new wave, freestyle, and electro with a few sprinkles of straight pop elements thrown in for good measure. The result is a modern day marvel that recalls days gone by in which "pop" wasn't such a four-letter word.

And, by the way, the songs are actually good. Packed with driving synthesizers, angular guitar lines, and truly catchy hooks, POST POP PARADE’s complex simplicity is reminiscent of such acts as New Order, Pet Shop Boys, The Human League, and Depeche Mode, just to name a few.

The blueprint for “post-pop”? Proof that a fun, well-crafted pop album can exist today, and not just in our collective memory? The beginning of the end for modern day commercial pop radio?

We sure hope so. At the very least, it's a step in the right direction.
