Album Notes

This recording features music for tuba and piano performed by one of America's best-known tuba players. It includes performances of staples in the repertoire, such as Anthony Plog's Three Minatures and the Lebedev Concert Allegro, as well as the premiere recordings of Anthony DiLorenzo's three-movement, full-length Sonata for Tuba and Piano, Dans Profundo by L. Ray Strobel, and Wind Cave by David Stock. Also features music of Verdi, and the beautiful Autumn by John Stevens, and Ballade by Jan Krzywicki. The album is a great example of the musical scope the tuba is capable of.

Craig Knox is the Principal Tubist of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and a founding member of the Center City Brass Quintet, well-known for its five acclaimed recordings on the Chandos label. As an educator, he serves on the applied music faculty at Carnegie Mellon University and Duquesne University, and has presented master classes and workshops throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.
