Album Notes

The culmination of several years of songwriting growth, "49 Floors" finally captures the true essence of what Craig Maierhofer has been sharing with live audiences for quite some time. His smooth, soulful voice permeates through a wonderfully produced set of introspective alt-folk-rock songs. Runner-up in the Best of Boulder (Colorado) Reader's Choice Awards in 2002 to Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Maierhofer delivers on his promise of a truly fantastic listening album. The album is produced by Joe Bonadio (Martin Sexton, Susan Todeschi), and features a host of seasoned studio musicians from New York City and Colorado. Steal this disc.

Maierhofer hands over a perfect pop song with opener "Twisted Again." The chord changes and melodic structure of "Why" and "Emily" are top-shelf, high-rent, fab. Excellent low-end manipulation by heart-throb Robert Pearson, and badass studio performances throughout, especially some mean Fender Rhodes stuff toward the top of the disc. Maier sings like a dreamy dreamboat man of my dreams.

Catchy, well-written songs that get better with each listen!
author: Christopher Bluhm
I had heard "Twisted Again" quite a few years ago on a scratchy, lo-fi demo tape and fell in love with the song and the sound of Craig's voice. To hear a full studio album recorded with some of the top session players in the biz blew me away. The production and mix are flawless. Craig's songwriting is smart, sincere and accessible. The first few listens had me re-playing "Twisted Again" over and over. With subsequent spins, many other tunes continue to grow on me including "Somebody Told Me," a funky rocker, "I Fly, I Die," a moody mellow tune and "Oxygen." This album gets better everytime I hear it. I've purchased several copies to send to friends and family. This guy deserves to be heard, so spread the word.
