I am an El Cajon CA resident transplanted from Pennsylvania eight years ago. I attended Berklee College of Music in the early 80's right after High School. My neighbor and guitarist friend, Eric Charles influenced me on many fronts so much that I played in a band with him, off and on, for 15 years. Most of this was on bass but also some on vocals, guitar and drums. Animation was the brainchild of Eric and Steve Liller a local keyboard wiz. Eric and Steve wrote the songs and I willingly played a support role in the group. The sound Animation was and still is influenced much by Yes and they made a big splash in central Pennsylvania for years. I also did a stint as the lead guitarist for a Grateful Dead cover band Crystal City.
Growing up just west of Philadelphia, I was also influenced by Darryl Hall and John Oates, Philadelphia International artists, the Cars, Toto and Todd Rundgren. My first Steely Dan album created a seismic shift in my musical direction. My solo work is much influenced by Becker and Fagen
All this leads to my move to San Diego in 2001. I am a returning student finishing up my Bachelor of Arts in History degree at San Diego State. I intend on using the degree to write fresh new music with historical and political under themes using my fresh new knowledge. “Got You on Line” represents work that I created while on the West Coast. My next album, “Universal Patriot” is actually a prequel to Got You On Line with music written while still in PA.
In this recording I use Cakewalk musical software, Treeworks Chimes, Fender Telecaster guitar, Yamaha PSR 225 keyboard, Yamaha drum machine and various percussion accessories. I intend on putting together a band to play this music in 2009. I will also play in acoustic environments with my originals and some covers.
