Aloha of course means both hello and goodbye. With this CD hopefully its double-meaning is also expressed. This was a sort of send-off session for bassist Andy Burtschi, who has left our area(central Illinois)for Colorado, and who had been on 3 of my CDs previously--and all recorded at Third Stone Productions. Hopefully it will be a CD of introduction for him there in Colorado. Aloha Andy, nice to meet you.
All but one of the tunes are mine. The title song was of course written for this project, as was one of the solo pieces: eine kleine Stucke für Claudia(a little piece for Claudia), written for a MySpace freunde aus Deutschland.
The one tune that's not mine is a nice smooth latin thing by a guitarist/composer from Denmark- Jon Hemmersam. One of the folks I know via the Internet(he also has some fine CDs of his own up on CD Baby), Jon and I have swapped tunes and CDs across the pond for a number of years now, and his composition "Latino Mio" seemed perfect for this project.
My other solo piece, "hvis sollen skinner"(pronounced veece soh-len SKEE-nah, it means 'if the sun shines'), is a shout to Jon and whoever else over there might hear and enjoy this music. I like having guest composers on my CDs(so long as the music fits the project, as it does here), as we both end up getting a few more listeners- let's hope anyway!
For all of us involved here, hope you enjoy this CD.
