Album Notes

"If music be the food of love, play on."
SHAKESPEARE

Let's leaf through the Book of Love, from Chapter One, "How Am I To Know if it's really Love?" to the last, "now that I've found you...Don't Ever Leave Me." And speaking of love, I'm in love with these musicians. Mike Renzi has outdone himself arranging, and when this trio gets together, Mike and Grady and Jay, something magical happens. Then you add the soloists: Bill Easley, Warren Chiasson, Jay Berliner and Virgil Jones, and it really is heaven. They love the music, and they know the words They have a singer's sensibility. Grady and Jay (Leonhart) perform live and sing on their own CDs. Renzi, Ted, Engineers Jim Czak and Tom Spahn, closet singers all! Take it from me, these guys do sing and boy, do they swing! My deepest thanks to each and every one of them.

"Anybody who digs quality has to be a sucker for Cynthia Crane. If you have any doubts, just listen to her previous CDs with Mike Renzi, SMOKEY BAR SONGS and BLUE RENDEZVOUS. They truly define the art of Saloon Singing. And guess what? She's done it again with CYNTHIA'S IN LOVE. She has a voice that grows on you. That smoky, husky sound that defines "voice noir." An unabashed romantic, I was knocked out by the intimacy of her music.

CYNTHIA'S IN LOVE will always have a place on the top shelf of my radio studio, ready to share with my listeners anytime!"
Ron Della, Chiesa Jazz Songbook WGBH Radio, Boston

"NY Cabaret favorite Cynthia Crane once again proves she knows how to pick 'em: superb material - superb musicians. You'll be in love too!

I love this album-she sure is easy to listen to. Have been listening to Cynthia for longer than I should mention but she keeps getting better and better. If only I could hear her in person more-I live far from NYC-but the CD brings her to me. Thank goodness. I find it's a lovely relaxing end to my day. Quite the mood setter. Thank you Cynthia!

good songs sung by a good singer

My first opportunity to listen closely to Cynthia Crane. Song interpretations are good and Mike Renzi is a singer's best friend. A mix of old standards with newer tunes. I need to check out Cynthia's other albums.

Two lovely women, Diana Krall, a young lioness ("Love Scenes"), Cynthia Crane, ("Cynthia's in Love") a mainstay - two superb talents with love in their voices. I have been swept away by what these divas of jazz can do to a lyric. A big reason is the vocal treatment Crane gives to these great standards. On this CD Crane is joined by an all-star band that includes Mike Renzi on piano, Jay Leonhart on bass, Grady Tate and Ron Zito on drums, Jay Berliner on guitar, Bill Easley on woodwinds, Virgil Jones on trumpet and Warren Chiasson vibraphone. It is this fine supporting cast that enhances the vocal mood Crane portrays. She is at home on these classic show tunes, placing a personal stamp, which makes these songs her very own.
