Album Notes

February: like the mix tape your high school sweetheart made for you in 1985.

The songs on Craving’s latest release, February, are as diverse as the band’s stack of influences. With songs that give a nod to R.E.M.’s Georgia twang, hearken back to U2’s early Dublin days, and incorporate New Order’s electronic/organic hybrid, February stands as a contemporary representation of the resurgence of the 80’s postpunk sound.

Brian Scanlon’s melodic crooning juxtaposes sweetly against a driving rhythm section and dark ambient guitar leads, while his vocal harmonies bolster February’s
hook-laden choruses.

The band’s sound is both appealing and understated, and is constructed from layers of subtle textures ranging from tambourine to full out electronica. From the jangling mandolin in Salmon Falls, to the epic strings in Change,

Craving’s February comes across like the mix tape your high school sweetheart made for you in 1985.

Craving is:

Brian Scanlon: Vocals/Bass
Tim Deal: Guitar
Brian Wiseman: Guitar
Scott Harris: Drums/Keyboards

february- a cold dismal month - a hot engaging album

What can I say about this album...This album is a completely new direction for the band and that direction is up. CRAVING recently went through a roster change, I believe this new linup really works and has allowed all the members to push their creative capabilities to a higher level of performance. I could sit here and discuss/analyze all 10 tracks on this album but what would be the point. The stories in this album are best told by the artists that created it. Whether listening to the hauntingly beautiful CHANGE, the melancholy sound of LACES OUT, the folksy sound of SALMON FALLS or the mellifluous IN BETWEEN this album has a lot to offer any fan of music. Am I saying that this album is going to change the face of music? Completely redfine your choice in music? Will be your favorite album for years to come? No. What I am saying is this album is multifarious, it has something here for everyone, it was crafted by 4 unique and creative individuals and offers the listeners a rich, vibrant and a very captivating music experience. This album should not be overlooked....... Support local music

February was my introduction to Craving and I was impressed. It has variety across the tracks without sacrificing anything – each song has a very real sound. Even more impressive given the entire CD was created in only one month.
