Robert Crawford began playing drums thirteen years ago at the age of 15. Since then he has played many different genres of music. Of those genres, Jazz is the one that has challenged and satisfied him the most.
Robert has spent time at College studying Jazz Theory and Composition, where he was given the opportunity to perform with Marcus Belgrave, Bill Dobbins, James Newton, Rufus Reid, Bobby Shew and Donald Waldon.
Although college proved to be helpful, Robert has decided to focus on gaining experience playing clubs and jam sessions. He has studied with Jazz drummers Greg Bandy and Billy Hart and played with Tim Armacost, Eddie Baccus Sr., Eddie Baccus Jr., Mike Lee, Robert Lockwood Jr., Dave Morgan and Dan Wall. Robert has also had opening spots for the likes of Tony Bennett, Diana Krall, Maceo Parker and Spyro Gyra.
He has also recorded his first C.D. 'HOW MUCH' on his own label, Pataflafla Productions Inc. that features saxophonist Gary Bartz.
Robert plans to spend all of his time and energy promoting his C.D. as he looks to further his success in Jazz.
"I enjoyed (How Much) very much, particularly What's it Matter and all the musicians played quite well particularly Robert Crawford."
