Album Notes

History
The Crayons first appeared as a boston based group around 1998. There was some recording and playing but the project was shortlived.
Singer/songwriter Keith Caruana took flight from Boston and after a short stay on the West Coast returned to his New Jersey hometown.
While playing solo acoustic shows as "The Crayons" Keith
recorded an acoustic e.p. at a friends garage. The 6-song "236 astor" was released in 2001 on Keith's own Shimmerwax label.
Capitalizing on favorable reviews and successful live shows Keith played throughout the Northeast finishing the year with a month long tour of the Southeast u.s.
2002

The Crayons needed a follow up

a full length "electric" recording

"What Color Are You?"

With a desire to expand the sound Keith turned to his friends, indie pop masters The Churchills.
The recording was done at Frankensound studio in North Brunswick,NJ. The Churchills both produced and lent thier playing skills to the sessions. The combination proved to be a perfect fit. The resulting 10 track disc is a collection of pop hooks, harmonies, and lots of guitars.
The new release will come out under the New York based indie label Cropduster Records. This label features some other great artists such as Bob Perry, of Winter Hours fame,The Health and Happiness Show and Patti Rothberg to name a few.
Be sure to check out the new record and answer the question
what color are you?
2003- The Crayons spent the first half of 2003 on the road promoting the disc. after a successful and adventurous 3 month trip around the U.S., Keith has been writing new songs and playing some special shows around the East Coast.
The cast of Crayons is always evolving, with Keith as the constant. Look for a new recording sometime in 2004!

REVIEWS

Colorful !

The Crayons are an edgy east coast rock band. Their music is a colorful blend of pop hooks, tight harmonies and plenty of mulit-layerd guitars. Nick C writes provocative lyrics and the vocals are rich. Vibrant percussions/bass, lively guitars, multi-hued keys and textured vocals are the colors of choice on this CD. The Crayons have a solid rock sound with touches of alternative and the chutzpah of Oasis. 'Allyson fell off the bike' is the somewhat haunting opening track with a catchy hook line and vivid imagery. 'In A Jar' contains tense guitars, a funky modern beat and jolting lyrics. 'Underground' has dark poetry combined with upbeat instrumentation creating an intriguing paradox complete with textured vocals and plenty of synergy. What Color Are You? is a shade of gray with its fun upbeat vocals and powerful dark lyrics, overall a great combination

A CD packed with 10 intense, melodic masterpieces. From the first track, the awesome Allyson fell off the bike - worth the price alone - to the last A Sunshine Parade, never is there a drop in quality. There's a full spectrum of power pop sounds to enjoy here. The talent of this band shines through for all to hear on this CD?? The Crayons definitely wax lyrical when it comes to modern pop rock... Buy this now and enjoy the buzz
