Creative Tradition is a Detroit based performance poetry ensemble that features tenor saxophonist Keith Gamble, the spoken word of poet, Wardell Montgomery Jr. and tribute pieces to the historical literary figure Paul Laurence Dunbar. Musical interludes composed by Keith Gamble are inserted between spoken word selections.
Our niche audience are people who love poetry, jazz and have a taste for social commentary. Our format is Sax and Poetry for short sets with additional jazz for full sets.
"I believe jazz and poetry ensembles date back to the Harlem Renaissance. We want to continue that tradition." Wardell Montgomery Jr.
