CREEK'S ARISIN'

Creek's Arisin' is from the Springfield, Missouri area and was founded in the Mark Twain National Forest country near Ozark, Missouri.

Some of the featured instruments are guitar, mandolin, dobro, banjo, fiddle and bass fiddle plus lead & harmony vocals from five of the six members.

Their music is contemporary bluegrass rooted in the traditional bluegrass & gospel style but also encompasses a little country, blues, and old time fiddle music.

Two members of the group write original songs, four of which are featured on their debut CD, "Life at the Mill".


New CD: LIFE AT THE MILL, released July 1, 2005

This CD contains lots of variety! Both instrumentals and most importantly, vocally. You won't hear the same person sing ten songs in a row. The instrumentals are traditional favorites of bluegrass and old time fiddle lovers alike.

As far as the original compositions go, here's a glimpse at what they're about:

"Life at the Mill", written by cofounder Larry Mayfield and sung by member Quay Kendrick, was written about a pioneer family building a mill (and their lives) in the mid 1800's in rural Missouri. They learn about how life at the mill parallels their journey through life. Inspired by the great Zanoni Mill in southern Missouri.

"When Arkansas Calls be Back Home", written and sung by member Terry Schnakenberg, is a beautiful and thought provoking song about longing to return to an early-life home in Arkansas. It lets your mind wander and gives you a nostalgic warmth.

"Full Moon Over Bull Creek", written by Larry Mayfield and sung by cofounder Mary Mayfield, is a bouncy upbeat tune about life on the road delivering the mail on horseback in the mid 1800's in the Ozark Mountains.

"I'll Go Across the Mountain", written and sung by Terry Schnakenberg, is a civil war inspired story about a soldier's battles in war and his return to his homestead to find it had been leveled to the ground. Beautiful and exciting bluegrass!

FOR YOU BLUEGRASS GOSPEL LOVERS!

"John the Revelator", sung by member Mark Garton, gives you a Creek's Arisin' version of this song with great lead vocals and traditional four part southern gospel harmonies.

"Angel Band", both a new and traditional favorite for many bluegrass fans, is sung by Mary Mayfield in the traditional four part vocal style.

In addition to these great songs, there are several Creek's Arisin' arrangements of songs written by some well know songwriters! Just like water flowin' down the creek, Creek's Arisin' is an ever changing passage through bluegrass, both traditional and contemporary.
