Album Notes

Unique in style and sound with its singular instruments and repertoire, Crépuscule is traditional scottish music band from Quebec City. Marie-Noelle Harvey and Christian and Dominic Haerinck get together to perpetuate on this side of the ocean a musical tradition that is more common on the shores of Ireland and Scotland. Blending instrumental music, songs and folklore, Crépuscule can get a party going in no time.

For its repertoire, Crépuscule delves into the traditional music of the scottish Highlands and Lowlands. Fiddling tunes that can be at once lively and romantic, the band favors a musical style closer to the old dance tunes than the more recent military piping tradition ( no, they do not play Scotland the Brave or Amazing Grace... ). Crépuscule also plays tunes from Ireland and its own compositions. Besides playing instrumental music - reels, jigs, strathspeys and airs - the four members also delight in songs, in english or scottish gaelic, sung to new melodies or to the traditional ones.

Crépuscule is proud to count in its rank the three most representative instruments of scottish music since the 1750\'s, namely the bagpipes ( Lowlands pipes, scottish smallpipes, great highland bagpipes ), the fiddle and the harp. Besides these, cittern, voice, percussion and guitar enable Crépuscule to invite the audiance to a merry musical feast of many different flavors.
