Album Notes

Weaving in and out of pulse and melody, the sound of Crisis Car is an energized and enlightened melding of harmony and lyrical diversion. Crisis Car is: Korel Tunador (vocals, guitar, saxaphone, accordian, piano) Frank Spadafora (vocals, acoustic and electric guitars) Jere Bucek (drums, vocals, guitar) Randy Venturini (bass, keys, vocals) These four musicians bring together diverse backgrounds in rock, jazz, and americana for a sound that is truly unique. The band mates hail from former bands such as Out of the Blue, Shockra, and Jenn Wertz and Love Child. The band was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1997 by Frank and Mike Speranzo, who now is a full time engineer at Mr. Smalls Funhouse. Since it's inception the band has grown in style and direction, and has etched out a place in the hearts of music fans wherever they perform. The 13 tracks on the bands debut release The Justice are dense and multi-layered, yet not over-produced. Songs like "Three Days on a Fish Hook" and "Longway Home" allow space to gently permeate the delicate balancing act achieved by the vocals and guitar lines of Spadafora and Tunador. Since its formation, the band has developed a solid fan base across the east coast, and has shared stages with fellow Pittsburgh musicians Rusted Root (including two sold-out New Year's Eve performances). Crisis Car has also provided opening support slots for The Further Festival, the 1999 Paul Simon and Bob Dylan tour, and the Summer 2000 tour of THE WHO. The band was also selected to perform at a special New Years Eve 2000 First Night Celebration for the City of Pittsburgh at Market Square. "The band that defies labels...second record "Skychair Maker"...breezes through Phishy folk-rock, progressive rock and funk before they're barely out of the garage. Pulling off a range from Phish to Crosby, Stills, & Nash to Genesis and Zappa not only takes a scary amount of talent, but also a sweeping set of musical interests." -Scott Mervis, The Pittsburgh Post Gazette Friday, February 23 2001 "Crisis Car's new tunes are as colorful, and as ultimately compelling, as the band itself." -Stephen H. Segal, In Pittsburgh Weekly Cover Story, February 21 2001
