A powerhouse CD featuring some of Vince Junior's solo albums' best songs, which benefit here from the fact that his vocals, strongly backed and nicely controlled, don't have to carry so much weight on their own. A few tracks would make natural covers for the Stones -- somebody tell Mick -- but Routes hasn't left much room for improvement.

Crooked Routes is an excellent highway driving CD. The songs flow from one to the next with great diversity yet keeping a continuity of mood and feeling. I put it in the car and listened to it twice through back to back. The second time, I was humming along. Great songwriting. Great musicians. Great CD!
