They first performed in 2001, and found in each other a shared spirit for traditional, uncontrived acoustic music. Bruce Lawson and Jen Carter-Kelly have evolved into Crossing North, a duo that respects the past while creating their own unmistakable spare, sweet sound.

Built on a framework of close, two-part harmony, Crossing North performs at the intersection of acoustic country, folk and bluegrass. They have been performing their original brand of music as well as timeless classics by artists like Patsy Cline and The Louvin Brothers.

Their debut CD, "Late Night Songs", was released in 2004 and features Crossing North originals with guest performances by Eric Gibson of The Gibson Brothers (courtesy Sugar Hill Records), Mike Barber, dobro extraordinaire Junior Barber, Adirondack legend Roy Hurd and mandolinist Skip Smithson.

With Jen’s powerful and engaging vocals, along with Bruce’s complimentary guitar stylings, the duo has become a favorite in their region, including upstate New York, Burlington, VT and Montreal. They have now toured to NH, ME, MA, NYC, NJ, PA, and DE.

CD #2 "Fragile", featuring a whole batch of Crossing North originals, was released in November 2006.
