WOW! This is really great.
author: Ken
Wow! The music reminds me of something old and comfortable, like a
favorite flannel shirt, while at the same time, something new and
refreshing. This isn’t your grandmother’s Christian music. While the
titles and lyrics are truly inspirational, this music is for everyone
to enjoy. Man, this music just hits you right in the gut.
Denise has really blossomed as a vocalist and reminds me of Pat
Benatar, with a bit of Ann Wilson (Heart) and Deborah Harry (Blondie)
thrown in. Sean’s guitar work is just great, especially the lead-ins
in “Real Good Start” (shades of Lynard Skynard) as well as his solos
and rhythm work. Percussion is the heartbeat of any band… and
without a heartbeat things die. Bryan and Jay have a chemistry that
keeps things rolling… the bass and drums complement each other so
well in these tunes. They add something to the total sound which is
hard to explain. Have you ever eaten a dish and know there is a taste
in it that you can’t put your finger on? Well that’s the way Jay and
Bryan blend into the total Crosswind sound; they are there, but their
sound is very subtle. Cathy on keyboards is just great; all the
little embellishments in each tune and a great job on the gospel-
style tracks. All the vocal back-ups are well arranged; great harmony
also. Jay isn’t too shabby in “All I Can Do”, almost a duet with
Denise. Maybe Jay should try a few on his own sometime.
Everyone should buy this CD. It’s an album that you’ll listen to
every day.
