Album Notes

Crosswind is one of the hottest bands in Central Texas. The strong, soulful vocals of Denise Squier have been compared to Ann Wilson of Heart. Her performances are packed with emotion that can raise the hair on your arms! Descriptions of live shows generally include phrases like "The place rocked!" and "They are the emotion-charged real thing", and one of the most compelling, throbbing, and exciting shows in memory".

Crosswind has been appearing at major music festivals all over the Lone Star State, and winning "Battle of the Bands" competitions. The band's 4th CD "The Core" is already guaranteed radio play on several radio stations all over Texas and is stirring up quite a "buzz", even by the Austin music 'gurus'. "The Core", released in December, is a getting back to the core of Crosswind's style-rock with a blues influence, a meshing of Rush and Heart with Bonnie Raitt.

Crosswind's third CD "Unified" has had nationwide airplay, led by the release of the song "One Heart", which is still being played on radio today. It has become a favorite even by churchgoers and has been introduced in churches as a praise and worship song to be sung by the church congregation. "One Heart" has become Crosswind's breakout hit and landed the band a deal with Amnesty Records.

Crosswind believes that every song should be from the heart. The music is positive, giving hope to the listener, yet it is honest and speaks truth. That is the reason Crosswind has been accepted in both worlds-mainstream and Christian, which normally keep separate.

Crosswind travels with an entire sound and lighting system, which would be available when necessary.

Crosswind will play just about any event when given the opportunity.

Wow! The music reminds me of something old and comfortable, like a favorite flannel shirt, while at the same time, something new and refreshing. This isn’t your grandmother’s Christian music. While the titles and lyrics are truly inspirational, this music is for everyone to enjoy. Man, this music just hits you right in the gut. Denise has really blossomed as a vocalist and reminds me of Pat Benatar, with a bit of Ann Wilson (Heart) and Deborah Harry (Blondie) thrown in. Sean’s guitar work is just great, especially the lead-ins in “Real Good Start” (shades of Lynard Skynard) as well as his solos and rhythm work. Percussion is the heartbeat of any band… and without a heartbeat things die. Bryan and Jay have a chemistry that keeps things rolling… the bass and drums complement each other so well in these tunes. They add something to the total sound which is hard to explain. Have you ever eaten a dish and know there is a taste in it that you can’t put your finger on? Well that’s the way Jay and Bryan blend into the total Crosswind sound; they are there, but their sound is very subtle. Cathy on keyboards is just great; all the little embellishments in each tune and a great job on the gospel- style tracks. All the vocal back-ups are well arranged; great harmony also. Jay isn’t too shabby in “All I Can Do”, almost a duet with Denise. Maybe Jay should try a few on his own sometime. Everyone should buy this CD. It’s an album that you’ll listen to every day.
