Album Notes

Crowboy was named for the sound we seek: ragged, mysterious, beautiful, raw, resourceful. Crowboy is all of this and more, in the form of music performed with integrity and conviction by Christopher Smith and Todd Redmond.

These Colorado natives are both visual artists who can't help but bring their unique and creative outlook to their music. The result is something both familiar and fresh: strong dynamics, catchy melodies, sparkling harmonies, and sharp lyrics that pour new energy into the fine tradition of American music. Crowboy is all about exploring and expressing their side of the American experience.

Band Members: Crowboy is Todd Redmond: Lead vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, drums, accordion, harmonica and banjo. Christopher Smith: Harmony vocals, acoustic and electric guitar, drums, percussion, bass, mandolin and the occasional penny whistle. For live performances Brian Bodley joins us on drums. Chris Ramey fills in on pedal steel and Dave Sweeney plays bass.

We are influenced by all things done well and with originality. In no particular order: X, Neil Young, Richard Thompson, Jason and the Scorchers, 16 Horsepower, Randy Newman, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, John Prine, Steve Earle, Elvis Costello, Gillian Welch, The Beatles, Slim Cessna's Auto Club, Tom Waits, Talking Heads, Trailer Bride, The Blacks, Neko Case, Supersuckers, and Morphine.
