The CD has been well received by the press!

"This is a disc to open the ears of all oboists, and to entertain and astonish less specialist music-lovers." Anthony Burton, BBC Music Magazine

"The enterprising new label Oboe Classics maintains its highest standards with a sample of the fiendishly difficult music written by Antonino Pasculli, the 19th-century composer-performer known as the 'Paganini of the Oboe'. Christopher Redgate needs all his considerable virtuosity
to negotiate the fiendish challenges set by Pasculli on themes from Verdi, Meyerbeer and Donizetti, not to mention the 'characteristic study' Le Api (The Bees). This is fascinating music played with extreme panache."
Anthony Holden, Observer

"Christopher Redgate is an oboist who thrives on technical demands, the more extreme the better, and his disc is a remarkable tour de force."
Christopher Hooker, Double Reed News

"This is an incredible CD for everyone who enjoys brilliant performers and performances."
Gary Higginson, Classical Music Web

Christopher Redgate's early studies in music were taken as a student at Chethams' School of Music, after which he studied for a further four years at the Royal Academy of Music under Richard Morgan and Evelyn Barbirolli (oboe) and Georgina Zellan-Smith and Hamish Milne (piano).

During his time at the Royal Academy he won prizes for solo performance and chamber music including the Blake Prize, Solomon Wind Prize and the James Prize and appeared on a number of occasions as a concerto soloist with Academy Orchestras.

Several prizes in international competitions: the Royal Overseas League, Martigny International Chamber music and Gaudeamus Competition marked the beginning of his professional performing career both as a soloist and in chamber music.

Chris' performing career has taken him to many parts of the world including most European countries, Scandinavia, Australia, America, Canada and China. He has broadcast regularly both at home and abroad and has a number of CD recording credits.

As well as his performing work Chris works extensively with composers and has specalised in 20th century repertoire.
He has givem masterclasses for oboists and composers at many well know colleges including Royal Academy of Music, Royal Northern College of Music, Birmingham Conservatoire, Kings College London, Goldsmith's College (where he is currently a Musician in Residence) and Huddersfield University.

Chris has for 25 years been a member of 'Trio Krosta' with his wife Celia Pitstow (flute) and Sylvia Bowden (piano).

This CD of music by the 19th century oboist Pasculli has been a dream of Chris' for a number of years. His interest in 19th century virtuoso music goes back to his student days when he first discovered Pasculli - since then he has been performing this music around the world and at last has found the time to record!
