Album Notes

Jaime Cruz is primarily a songwriter and storyteller. Jaime has been writing and composing songs from an early age and has recently begun the process of making his music available to the public. The opening track of this album, Anecdote, was a monthly runner up for international online competition Song of the Year. Jaime’s goal in a nutshell is to tell stories that inspire, provoke thought and above all, entertain with style.

Born in California, raised in Jalisco, Mexico and currently living in Wyoming, of all places, he's been privileged at an early age to become aware of his cultural background and the American voice. His music intends to blend perspectives and bring people together. During his time in Mexico, he was surrounded by Latin Pop, Classic Rock and the Mariachi influence as well as other traditional Mexican music. Being a playwright and having a firm theatrical background as well, Jaime aims at delivering clear stories that not only give us a fun listen, but allow us to look beyond the superficial to find a hint of hope within ourselves.

Jaime spends most of his time as a playwright, singer/songwriter/keyboardist of the popular experimental folk pop band, FOR THE BENEFIT.

About the tracks:

1. Anecdote - A meditation on the fight against conformity and the courage to find a voice.

2. ...As I Was Saying - This is one of my favorite comfort songs for those of us who want a ticket to a prosperous future.

3. I'm Sorry - An apology to a girl I'm quite fond of.

4. Nothing Changes - For charlatans.

5. I Don't - My favorite synth-pop drenched love song!

6. Baby - The story of a broken woman creating another broken life.

7. Handful of Dreams - This one's for a good friend I had.

8. Mujer - A Mother's tale.

9. The Chant - A song for nightmares that get out of hand.

10. Stand Tall - A song for dreams to get out of hand even further.

11. Dogs - Everyone barks nowadays. Not enough people speak.

12. Glass of Water - My happy theme song to finding a place in life.

13. Lady/Anecdote Reprise - I liked Anecdote so much, I figured it had to be done...

14. Palabras Entre Caos Y Piedras - A few words of defiance against ignorance.
