Album Notes
Denver, Colorado’s Cryogen was formed in late 2004 by Ryan Conner (vocals, guitar) and Brian Sawyer (lead guitar) with the goal of combining the melodic and memorable song structures of European metal (In Flames, Opeth, Dark Tranquility) with the impact of American death metal (Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Death). Their full-length debut album, Premonition, was released in October 2005 and was well-received by international media as well as metal fans in the Colorado area. Cryogen followed the release of Premonition with nearly 100 shows covering much of Colorado and Wyoming between 2005 and 2006, playing to thousands in the region.

Cryogen’s rhythm section was replaced in late 2006 with Jeff Staley (drums) and Mike Papajohn (bass/backing vocals). Stronger and more focused, they will release an EP of all new material, This Nightmare, in June 2007. This Nightmare presents a much more varied and musical approach than does the debut effort, as the influences of all four members mix to create a brutal, lasting impression. The EP was tracked at MindCycle Studios (operated by Ryan Conner), and was subsequently mixed/mastered by Dave Otero at Flatline Audio (Cephalic Carnage, Planes Mistaken for Stars, Summon) in April 2007.
