Album Notes

Crystal Plamondon has a well-established track record of consistently delivering passionate performances that navigate a musical landscape from heart-warming ballads to rockin’ country and zydeco. After taking some time off, she’s refreshed, recharged, and ready to let the good times roll again! Her new CD, On A Song And A Prayer, acknowledges the positive impact of family, friends, and music in her life.

We like to describe On A Song And A Prayer as heartfelt prairie roots music with just the right amount of Cajun spice. Crystal hails from Plamondon, the village in Northern Alberta her Franco-American great grandfather founded in 1908. Ten of the thirteen tracks are original tunes, and four were composed and performed in French. Crystal fashions each song on this album into a vibrant musical quilt that celebrates the power of friendships and family ties.

She examines the nature of various kinds of personal relationships in Forever More, Saving The Best For Last, So Close, Je t’aime, and Constament. Her family is celebrated in Homemade Love, while the rock solid 60-year marriage of friends is chronicled in His Sweetheart Of The Rodeo (and its French reprise Sa belle du rodeo). There’s an irresistible vitality to Like A Hurricane, Must Be Love, Jesus & Alan Jackson, and Mon ti pit, that will put a grin on your face and the beat to your feet as you get up to dance.

The title track, On A Song & A Prayer, finishes the album off with a leap of blind faith. Recorded off the floor in one take, it personifies the spirit of this project from start to finish!
