Chris & Siobhan Nelson are an acoustic folk duo based in Southport, England, and they have been performing music together for over 20 years. They first got together as members of The Cluster of Nuts Band, who were part of the British 'rogue folk' movement back in the 1980s. After many years with bands, they are now wowing audiences as a duo, with a great mix of songs delivered in their refreshingly original way. Their repertoire is drawn from a wide range of sources, both traditional and contemporary, and the songs are accompanied on fiddle, viola, tenor guitar or mandola, or sung a capella. Siobhan's singing is frequently described as spine-tingling, but she also 'lets rip' in a more powerful style when the song requires it.
Joining Chris and Siobhan on some tracks are: Roger Gardiner on bass, Bill Hackney on harmonica and Pete Rimmer on guitar.

Chris & Siobhan also work as a trio - Nelsons Wake - with songwriter Barry Wake. The album 'Ebb and Flow' by Nelsons Wake is available through CD Baby (follow the link below the sound clips on the left).

Some quotes about DAY HAS DAWNED:
"..one to savour and return to" (fRoots)
"...a hell of a team as well as a talented pair of individuals... [Chris's] imaginative combinations of instrumental timbres... [Siobhan's] moving, appealingly tender-sounding voice which can sometimes quite belie its very power... This is a quite exceptional CD, which manages the difficult feat of being both satisfyingly charming and thought-provoking in a way that doesn’t need to shout at you but makes a more unassuming impact by virtue of its integrity, excellent taste and high-quality musicianship." (David Kidman, NetRhythms)
"Day Has Dawned sparkles like the sun on the dew in the morning" (FATEA)

Day has dawned
author: Jonathan Dean
This is my Christmas album for several friends--the more I listen to it the more I enjoy the selection of songs. Purple White and Green is one of the few songs I know about an important subject that ought to have more songs about it. An unmitigated joy.

A modern take on English and Australian ballads
author: Jonathan Dean
Great sound. Siobhan has a lovely voice, and Chris' accompanyment lends richness. The Banjo Patterson song about artisian water will be played over and over. A joy.
