Loving the tunes my dad listened to like Andy Williams, Tony Bennett and Bobby Darin made me appreciate the qualities found in that genre of music. I wanted to do something that used the brilliance of the old songs of yesterday and make it my own.

Album Notes

Having the benefit of the unpredictable "The Road" fits into a easy electronic groove while managing to create an uncontrollable urge to get up and move to its chill vocals and organically charged rhythms. It's a wickedly mellow juxtaposition of chill electronic elements, wild beats, acoustic bass, and hauntingly familiar tunes that play easy for any mood.

Recorded at The Living Vibe Studio in London, "The Road" is an absolutely mind-bending project of my desire for the unusual... It's addictive and the more you listen, THE MORE YOU NEED TO LISTEN!

Performers :
CT Apple -- Lead vocals/Keys
Tony Robinson -- Rhodes/Strings
John Thompson -- Wicked Acoustic Bass
AM Johnson -- Percussion/Keys/Synthesizer

CT and Freestyle Blow up Morrigan's!
author: Kim S
CT and his new band Freestyle made a blast at Morrigan's Pub August 30TH with their unique blend of old and new. They packed the joint as they managed to fuse yesterday's jazz and today's vibe. Using highlights from CT's "The Road" as a foundation at points, they wailed with CT's "Charade" and "Fly Me to the Moon." No one left dissapointed -- except that they wanted more....

Sleek and easy renditions of traditional crooning tunes
author: Martin Taylor From Music Maker Inc.
Never heard of this album nor the artist before, but gotta say, this is a well produced compilation of songs. Virtually totally techno with quantized instruments carefully placed, CT sings crisp and thin melody lines that occasionally remind the listener of a day long gone. Yet, despite the "old world" deja vu, the chill, techno side of the album prevails. 9 tracks in total, "The Road" starts with a very well produced version of "Charade" - a song I'm sure I've heard before -, then moves to "One For My Baby, One More for the Road," a wild arrangement of a song I never liked until now. CT includes two original tracks that are ultra-smooth and laid-back compared to the already chill tone of the album. "The Good Life" was one I had never heard of at all and was intrigued by the simplistic techno feel. Finally after a cool revamp of "Night and Day," CT does the coolest, most slick thing on the album with "Fly me to the Moon." This CD is truly unique and I hope it sells well -- I mean, being in the indie world is an uncertainty in and of itself -- not having a live band must be Hell.

One for All!
author: Roger Stevenson
This is a definite must have for those in love with intricate rhythms and great lyrics! I have never heard such a unique take on these old tunes - they have all the trademarks of the originals without leaving the danceable necessities behind. CT's voice is jazzy and clear as it sits inside the unrestrained arrangements. Most other albums featuring old Cole Porter or Henry Mancini songs would either put you to sleep or destroy the originals, however this album makes you feel wildly mellow while respecting the art of the music from the past. Buy it now because its type won't come along soon! The album is made up of instrumentals and vocals that are totally today's style of funk with just enough pop qualities to make it really appealing to all audiences. Hey, this type of album only comes along once in a blue moon. You've got to get it today!
