author: Robert BWhat can I say that the other reviewers didnt...Its like a plate of hot tasty bbq..tonefully delicious !!! If you love S.R.V tone..Albert has it and his vocals hit the spot like ice tea on a summer day !
Fine vocals, smokin' guitar work. Excellent blues CD!
author: Carolyn CorryThis is a fine blues guitar CD for the guitar enthusiast. You can hear the Stevie Ray influence, but the man is not an imitaror. There are some cover songs, but with a definitely original approach. Cummings has a great voice for blues, too. I will listen to this CD a lot.

send me some ringing tone
Smooth, tastful, and a little bit funky.
author: dbluesmanI found this cd to be very smooth, tastful, and a little bit funky. Very real, not over produced. although compared to Stevie Ray Vaughan by other reviewers I never felt like I was listening to a copy cat. In fact I hear a lot of great infulences in Albert's recordings. In todays times with so many great blues/rock artists Albert Cummings brings a fresh new sound with great guitar, vocals, and song writing. Highly recommend all 3 of Albert's cds. Thanks Albert for the great music. Note: 2nd cd has a mellower tone, and 3rd cd rocks a little more.
This is truly one cracking album from beginning to end, and i totally recommend
author: Dave Haywow what an album, a real guitar classic. This man knows how to play, and he's not over the top like so many others. Albert loves the blues and it shines through. His playing is fluent and tight, and he deserves a much recognition has he can get. I like a bit of blues with a bit of rock, but not over the top and this is it.
Excellent rocking blues
author: DianaIf you are a fan of rocking blues, this CD is for you. It ranks with Stevie Ray Vaughn. Buy it. Play it. It'll make you cancel your plans and blow off your friends so you can stay home and listen to it over and over.
THIS is the GOOD stuff!
author: Mike in NYCSmokin' all the way: great guitar, excellent covers, excellent originals.
Nice covers
author: RandallIt's nice to see a new artist do some covers and not try to imitate, Albert Cummings makes them his own without mucking them up. This guy has real talent and a sense and respect for the blues that you can't help but admire.
absolutely fantastic
author: Lynne FormhalsSome of the best I have ever heard. gonna wear it out!
Simple yet deeply complex
author: Su in VancouverThis CD explores more depth then his previous, it's range is from gentle coos.. to profound guitar riffs... to explosive.... I love it... This guy is raw and vulnerable at the same time - his guitar riffs makes my skin crawl and vocals sooth the troubles away. The essence of blues is found within this CD.

Love at first progression!
author: Ray JacksonThis CD came up on my "recommended" list. After hearing a couple of previews I ordered my copy. Great blues guitar work! Well worth adding this one to your collection. Watch your snob friends try to guess who is playing.
Awesome, Great job on the mix
author: Jerry SEach time I listen to this CD I am impressed with Albert's guitar skills and the other thing that stands out is the mix. This is a quality production worthy of the featured artist. If you love good blues/blues rock, do your self a favor and buy this CD. Albert will make you want to learn how to play the guitar.
The long way is the right way
author: BobI bought this CD on a whim, it's pretty good. Clean guitar work bordering on flashy. I can listen to this CD, and have, over and over again. The guy sings good too.
Awesome guitar work. Great range of songs.
author: Bill KlineI picked up this CD on a tip from a friend of a friend, and man do I owe him one. Right from the beginning he shows of his blues chops and then it only gets better. No downside to this CD, this guy flat out rocks. He must be fantastic live, I'll be looking for him to come down my way (in fact I think I'll e-mail Warmdaddy's a link to this guy, I can't imagine what they are waiting for). He is not the next SRV, he IS ALBERT CUMMINGS.
I love the cd, his guitar work is awesome!!!

Excellent From Start to Finish
author: Bluesrockers"The Long Way" from Albert Cummings and Swamp Yankee is truly a remarkable recording, in that it rates excellent in every area in which I consider when reviewing.
Albert Cummings is a pro at guitar
author: Natan PakmanThe Cummings cd is fantastic and I saw him live in concert with bb King. He's a pro at guitar.
Great Album, Fast Hands, and a rhythm to sing to!
author: Alex MartinezHis albumn is great, I saw him in Concert at "The Calvin" in Northampton, Massachusetts, and his guitar was screaming, his songs were full of the blues
SRV Wannabee My Foot!
author: SbhI think pmj needs to learn how to review a CD. It is obvious to me that from listening to this album, Albert Cummings draws from a plethora of influences, only one of which is Stevie Ray Vaughn. This does not warrant a comparison, as I'm sure Albert's intent is not to sound exactly like any artist in particular, just to pay tribute to his musical heroes while simultaneously creating a sound of his own. This cd is an excellent listen from start to finish, and I can't wait to hear their next release.
The Long Way represents the future of the Blues
author: Mark R. MaronyAlbert Cummings and Swamp Yankee's debut release, The Long Way, has reopened a road that has been closed since the untimely death of Stevie Ray Vaughn. With a guitar style so clean and perfect that it could sever granite from the earth, Albert's strat-work slides, shuffles, wails and moans its way through this masterful nine track release. From the soulful, anguished drenched Lonely Bed, to the playful, good times bound Pull The Shades, the versatility of Albert's song writing abilities shines through. While many blues musicians would shy away from trying their hand at such tried and true standards as Hoocie Coochie, Mojo Workin' and Crossroads, Albert rises to the challenge, delivering renditions that are so fresh and vibrant that they sound like new songs. If, as the story goes, Robert Johnson did sell his soul to the devil, then Albert Cummings has surely bought it back. And Albert's soul is what you hear on every track of The Long Way.
Good rockin blues a la Stevie Ray
author: Stephen J. AlbaneseAlbert Cummings leads his band Swamp Yankee through 9 tracks of rockin blues chuck full of his tasty guitar work. Somewhat like Stevie but with a little cleaner tone. From the rocking The Long Way to the slow blues work out Lonely Bed, to the Skynyrdish Mojo Workin' his guitar is well upfront. The album has a very live feel to it because it was recorded almost soley in one two hour session. But don't let that stop you, the prouction is crystal clear with good separation leaving Albert's guitar work plenty of room to shine throughout. I can recommend this CD for those who like their blues rockin with alot of guitar work.
This CD leaves the listner satisfied but definitely hungry for more.
author: Bluesprint Magazine (tom Clark)For anyone who thinks a great record can't be made in one quick session, a lesson in time management from Albert Cummings and Swamp Yankee might be in order. Then again, not everyone is in possession of such a prodigious level of talent. Albert Cummings lets loose a barrage of guitar pyrotechnics that calls to mind a grand mix of the styles of past masters like Albert King, Freddie King, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Jimi Hendrix on this brilliant debut album, The Long Way
great blues music
author: Helen SteeleI found this in error. My husband is a big blues fan and loved it! I am not as big a fan of blues music but found that I also thought it was great! Hope to hear more of this in the future.
The CD has energy to spare, it's tight.
author: Blues Review Magazine (tom Hyslop)The Long Way broadcasts loud and clear that the long arm of SRV still beckons blues guitarists in search of style. Trio Albert Cummings and Swamp Yankee borrow heavily from Vaughan's tone and rolling, combined rythm/lead work. Even the lazy title track (almost southern rock) sounds Stevie-fied, as do the slow blues "Lonely Bed" and the In Step-era inspired jam "Memory." Recorded live in the studio, this set has energy to spare and shows a high level of intuition on the band's part. It's tight.
