Biography
Formed at birth as the answer to the Everly Brothers, Matthew and Mikey Gervais began a long, circuitous journey through adolescence and the multitudinous world of rock musicians. Having been thoroughly doused with musical stimuli originating from the nearest nooks and the farrest crags in the domain of music, the brothers eventually arrived at a sound that hearkened back to the nineteen-sixties and the Beatles, while remaining obstinate in its intent to propel modern musical ideals forward. Simply put, they wished to make music akin to that which they had become so fond of as children, yet maintained an element of the youthful naivety and rebelliousness that makes rock music palatable to the thinking man or woman. Recently this familial unit has been united with dear friends, Peter Fedofsky (piano/vocals), Nicholas Holman (recording engineer/producer and born again bassist), and Dave Lawrence (drummer) in an endeavor to create a band that strives toward a level of integrity, while having no phobias about self-deprication or being able to laugh at the topsyturvydom of their worldly position as music makers. The band's first full length album, "Heaven's Waiting" was recently released in the Spring of 2007.
The album "Heaven's Waiting" features the most representative collection of their material to date, including the songwriting of Peter Fedofsky, whose staggeringly catchy songs tackle subjects like devastating earthquakes, and destitute boxing legends. Intricate melodic composition compliments themes derived from Leo Tolstoy's "The Death of Ivan Ilych" in Matthew Gervais's 1930's inspired title track "Heaven's Waiting." The result is a writing style that places serious subject matter into an unlikely however, effective musical context, creating a sound that evokes levity while expounding intimate lyrical themes. The members of Curtains For You carefully selected the songs from the album "Heaven's Waiting" from a wealth of unreleased material that had been written by Peter Fedofsky and Matt Gervais to create a record with a sense of continuity and an implied narrative. All of these themes team together with a buoyant energy in any Curtains For You stage performance.

This album reminds me of so many albums that I love. These guys are steeped in the music of the 60s for sure. All I can do is smile when I hear this record. If you are a fan of great melodies and cool harmonies, check this album out.

Long live this band! Amazing debut.

I found this band on accident, and I am so glad. As to why they are not signed is a complete mystery. Musically, they share the same turf as lots of retro pop bands, but they don't lose themselves to sugary excess. The arrangements are great, the vocals are fantastic, and the songwriting is the star of the show. Overall the album has a cohesive feel that so many modern albums are lacking. I would rather have 30 minutes of cohesive tunes that work as a whole instead of a CD packed with 80 minutes of garbage. That formula worked well for bands before the 70s. It still works. The first time I played it, I hit repeat when it finished. That sums it up pretty well!
