Curt has studied under Mike Auldridge, and Mike plays on two tracks. The rest of the players are drawn from the rich musical bounty of southwestern Virginia, resulting in a thick and meaty stew of bluegrass, blues, folk and original acoustic music.

“Curt Baker is what you might call an
accidental recording artist.
His first CD, Welcome Back To Slidetown, was produced
primarily to distribute among family and friends. His love of
the resophonic guitar had been awakened after a period of
inactivity, and he used that recording to refresh his
acquaintance with the music. When a friend sent copies to
several bluegrass radio programs - and it found favor with
listeners - Curt found himself fielding further radio
requests, and invitations to perform at regional shows
and festivals. And here we are a few years hence with
Slidetown Reunion, intended to showcase Baker's
mentors and musical friends who have helped him in his return to the reso world.
First among them, surely, is the legendary Mike Auldridge with whom Curt has
studied this past few years - who guests on a new version of Pickaway and
Panhandle Rag. The rest of the players are drawn from the rich musical bounty
of southwestern Virginia, resulting in a thick and meaty stew of bluegrass, blues,
folk and original acoustic music featuring Baker on a variety of resophonic guitars.
Pull up a chair and enjoy the slide.”

Slidetown Reunion

We are so proud of Curt's new CD, Slidetown Reunion! Of all the titles in our catalog now, this is my favorite to date!!!
Wonderful, cleanly played acoustic music with great variety (much of it played on instruments that match the vintage of the songs) that will keep your toe a tappin' with some of the most talented musicians in the Blue Ridge Mountain region. Our special thanks to Mike Auldridge, who played on two of the songs!
If you can only buy 1 CD this year, this should be it!!!
