Album Notes

Making a great album requires great players, great chemistry and a little luck. These recordings are no fluke and I can no longer deny what has always been inside of me. I am especially grateful to the musicians on this album, who played their guts out for me time and again, Johnnie Bamont, Sal Cracchiolo and Melanie Jackson, Jeff Minnieweather, Victor Little, Tony Lafrano, Garth Webber, Carlos Reyes, Todd Swenson (my San Francisco Band) and Dan Marsisi, Gary Davenport, Glenn Jordan and Tim Torrance (my LA Band). This album was recorded live in a day, the old school way, the way that music should be recorded. Larold Rebhun and Glen Jordon produced this album and are responsible for salvaging some of the tracks ultimately making this album more palatable and I am grateful for that...There were a lot of influences out there... my son for instance who is the main character in the song "Chase'n the Dragon" and a little guy name Nimal who hails from Sri Lanka....Enjoy!

History
In 1990 having come in from the field, Curt was consolidating some special operations gear from one bag to the next, when much to his surprise a Harmonica fell out of the medical kit attached to his webgear. Picking up the harmonica his platoon mate "Tim Tofaute", who was sitting across the room announced: "Since you are always singing the blues, I thought I'd buy you a harmonica, because every blues man needs to know how to play one". Looking at the harmonica in the palm of his hand Curt realized that it was an omen, a gift and that it was in his destiny to learn how to play". Curt says: "I really taught myself to play the Blues. When I first started to play I didn't understand the dynamics of playing a Harmonica, nor did I read music. I discovered that I was naturally playing across the grain of the music, which is the nature of the Blues. Once I learned how to play I felt a deep connection in my soul like I had been playing all along. I was sure that I had played in a pre-existent state, or in a past life, as it made my spirit soar. I seemed to play the best when I was down and of course that's the spirit of the blues". A year later during his first rock concert production (The Desert Storm Veterans Memorial Benefit Concert in Fallon, Nevada) Curt was invited to play on stage for the very first time. Frontman Jimmy Woods from the Immortals pushed Curt towards the microphone and said: "go for it brother". Mustering everything in his soul Curt proceeded to play an electrifying performance for the crowd. 7 years later Curt produced (with help from his Family, Friends snd SEAL Brothers) his first cd "Killhouse" under the "Beast Release Records" label. In July of 1998 the Album received a 5 Star Review from the Navy Times, however his Commanding Officer wasn't happy about it. Although he was asked to stay in the Navy Curt declined and stated that his operational days were over and he wanted to go out into the world and make his way. He admitted that his experiences in the SEAL's had been tumultuous and that he was tired of babysitting drunks and a dishonest President...

You really are an eclectic beast!
author: Przemek Draheim
Dear Curt, The parcel you've sent me with your music has reached me safe and sound, thank you very much! You really are an eclectic beast, no doubt about that! Mixing different styles of roots music you have created a tasty gumbo of blues, funky, southern rock and singer songwriter material. The newest CD is very introspective, kind of day dreaming CD. Your older songs are different, more classic blues oriented, I would say. But all of them are enjoyable and full of interesting melodies and memorable lyrics. This is not something you forget about easily after music stops playing and I like that a lot! Congratulations. It will be my pleasure to feature your music in my shows. I will keep you up to date with my playlists and Living Blues reports. Thank you again Curt for the music you've sent me! Let us stay in touch. Best wishes, Przemek Draheim phone: +48 609 97 35 29 website: www.blues.pl/draheim e-mail: draheim@blues.pl
