A Cal Arts graduate, who after many years of exploring many popular instrumental genres, has found a love of transparency, lyricism and hyperkinetic rhythm to forge compositions to reflect, romanticize and remember. Passive and hypnotic sustains, filtered expressive pointillism combined with rhythmic grooves create the foundation for the memorable melodies and lyrical improvisations performed with a single voice acoustic piano. I found Curtis Macdonald's Falling Into Midnight a tender companion to the everyday feelings of one's desired dreams of the hopeful quest for romance and the torn moments of lost loved. The music has a modern sound with electronica, synth driven arrangements with melodies and catchy hooks that stick in your head. I liked this for the variety of tunes, though all are interwoven with the same storyline, and what a heartfelt story this is......
