We played some new toons off our forthcoming cd Hope ya dug it...seems like ya did Thanks for indulging us..further As Always,HUGE thanks to Ron & Dee for giving us the opportunity (again) to play at the bar...we always have a blast and they always treat us golden Gotta give a mention to all the bar/beer tenders who worked their asses off to make sure all of us never had empty bottles(Bren, Carol, Dana, & Carrie)..... Last(but never least), CLRK must take a moment to thankMiss Brenda for ALL that she does for us. Besides spreading the word about all things CLRK, she always finds time to make sure everyone is taken care of....we love you Bren!! A compelling concoction of guttural hip-shakin' hardboogiepunkbluesrock with a teaspoon of twang added for good measure. Sure to put a grin on your HiFi set, and break a lease or two when jammed at the recommended volume. Curtiss the charismatic front-man on vocals (who still hasn't grown up), and Brad the slacker guitarist, have been kicking around the local scene together since August '73. They were joined in '81 or '82 (no-one seems to remember exactly) by Mark on drums to form the original 'Subdudes', not to be confused with those major-label guys who later usurped the name. After a handful of independent recordings were launched, there was a breakup in the early '90's. Curtiss and Brad reformed in '97 as 'The Reverb Kings' with their old friend Ron on bass. Shortly after the turn of the century and the release of a four-song EP, personal issues forced a change in the lineup, and Mark returned to the fold to assume the percussive duties. There are samples of six songs from Now With Twice the Reverb available here at CD Baby. Circling the drain features a rather dark lyric over a boogie riff ala ZZ-Top-meets-Canned-Heat. Indiscretion is a twangy little number with a rhythmic structure not unlike the Beatles' She's a woman. The cover of Heartbreak Hotel owes more to the John Cale arrangement than the Sun Studios original, and might just be spooky enough to give you nightmares. Wishful Thinking is the only optimistic 'love-song' on the record, and spotlights a bit of slide guitar. She Caught the Katy is true to the spirit of the traditional arrangement, complete with slide guitar, a train, and wimmens.Fingerstyle acoustic guitar anchors the introduction to Standoff's end, the sixth of the samples. These six songs were chosen to illustrate the diverse range of sounds contained on Now With Twice the Reverb.
